Graduation is a milestone you have been striving for all your life. This ceremony is a tribute to your achievements and is eagerly anticipated by your parents and family members. All graduates participating in the ceremony are expected to adhere to all graduation policies and procedures. Additionally, all graduates must adhere to the Student Code of Conduct. If graduates do not comply, they may be instructed to leave and not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.
ALL STUDENTS:
Must wear the designated cap, gown, and tassel. No alterations to either the cap or gown will be allowed. (For example, no decorations on the caps, no extra tassels, cords, or stoles that are not affiliated with Santa Fe High School or military enlistment, flower necklaces, candy chains, flags, etc.). The tassel must be worn on the left side until the class is certified to graduate.
- Jewelry: Watch and ring(s) are okay
- Earrings: Small and simple
- No purses or electronic devices (cell phones, cameras, musical devices, etc.). Leave them at home or in the trunk of your car. Items that are confiscated at Graduation will be available at the tables near the field house immediately following the ceremony, or at the SFHS main office on Tuesday, May 26th, during normal business hours.
- School rules will be enforced. Graduates who come improperly attired will be turned away and not allowed to participate unless they change into proper attire.
Note: Campus Administration decisions are final.
FEMALE STUDENT DRESS CODE (Not optional)
- Shoes: Make sure all shoes are comfortable to your liking. There is a ramp to move across the stage. No stilettos or pointy heels. This damages the track, and your shoes will sink into the turf field. You can wear thicker heels or wedges. No tennis shoes, flip flops, Crocs, etc…
- Dress/Skirt: Simple, plain – appropriate for the ceremony. Must not extend below the gown or be seen above the collar area.
- Pants: Must be dark-colored dress slacks. Jeans that look like dress slacks are allowed (no light-colored, faded, or acid-washed jeans).
MALE STUDENT DRESS CODE (Not optional)
- Shirt: White or light-colored, button-down dress shirt Note: All grad gowns have a V-neck, so the color of the shirt and tie is important.
- Pants: Must be dark-colored dress slacks. Jeans that look like dress slacks are allowed (no light-colored, faded, or acid-washed jeans).
- Tie: Regular dress tie or bow tie • Shoes: Dark dress shoes or cowboy boots. No tennis shoes, flip flops, Crocs, etc…
FAMILY & FRIENDS
The Graduation Commencement is a formal ceremony to recognize all students. Family and friends of all graduates look forward to hearing the announcements of their own graduate’s name. Please respect every family’s right to hear their own graduate’s name. Please leave noisemakers at home and turn off cell phones, pagers, and other electronic devices at the ceremony. The ceremony typically lasts 90 minutes.
